EU SPS Support to Horticulture Sector:

PACEID together with MAAIF have agreed on euro 8 million to deal with the following:
- Strengthened regulatory and operational processes of the competent authorities to
implement SPS in the fresh fruits and vegetables industry
- Strengthened capacity of public sector organizations to implement SPS measures
for fresh Fruit and Vegetable value chains
- Improved export certification and import regulatory process of the NPPO
- A Systems Approach (ISPM 14) for pest risk management is effectively adopted
and implemented by the private sector for selected FFV value chains.
- Enhanced compliance with requirements of the private sector
- Strengthened capacities of private sector operators, MSMEs agribusinesses and
business membership organizations (BMOs) in the Ugandan FFV value chains to
meet market requirements.
- Strengthened capacities of key support services to the private sector in the
Ugandan FFV value chains
- Alternative cost-effective export routes and methods for FFV export to the EU
utilized
- An effective SPS coordination, communication, and information-sharing
mechanism established and implemented.
