UGANDA AT IATF 2023 – Fact Sheet

About IATF 2023 – General Event Information

Dates:

The Fair is scheduled to take place from November 9, 2023, to November 15, 2023.

Venue:

The event will be held at the Cairo – Egypt International Exhibition Centre in the Cairo Governorate, Egypt.

Overview:

  1. The IATF 2023 is branded as the AFCFTA Marketplace. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) is a significant initiative aiming to create a single continental market for goods and services, with free movement of business persons and investments.
  2. Currently, intra-African commerce accounts for only 16% of the total African trade. The IATF aims to boost this percentage by providing a platform for businesses across the continent to connect, showcase their products and services, and explore investment opportunities.
  3. The fair is organized by the African Export-Import Bank in collaboration with AFCFTA and the African Union Secretariat.

IATF Virtual:

Alongside the physical event, the IATF also offers an interactive virtual platform. This platform allows for the presentation of products, services, and investment opportunities. Notably, the IATF Virtual continues even after the physical Trade Fair concludes, providing extended opportunities for networking and business dealings.

Why Attend:

  1. The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) is a significant platform for businesses looking to expand their reach within the African market. It provides opportunities for networking, exploring new markets, and fostering collaborations.
  2. Attending the IATF is a mark of quality, and every attendee will receive an official certificate of participation, which can be showcased for business credibility.

  • Objective:

One of the primary challenges hindering intra-African trade is the lack of information about trade and markets. To address this issue, Afreximbank decided to convene the IATF biannually. The fair aims to provide essential market and trade information and to connect buyers from all over the continent.
