About PACEID

Vision

What we want to see

Achieve a balanced budget for Uganda by exporting double the current size of GDP by 2026.

To do this, Uganda must fully harness its agro-industrial potential

Purpose

Why we exist

To support the growth of agriculture and industry and develop stronger
export capacity by removing current capacity constraints.

These are mainly:
1. Blind trade and unplanned access to markets,
2. Poor product standards,
3. Low/archaic quality soft and hard infrastructure to support trade
4. High borrowing costs by export companies

Organisational Structure

i. The Executive Committee

The eight-member Executive Committee provides oversight to the team and has over the last 2 years approved the Secretariat and Organisation structure that will deliver the desired export target. This cross-functional ExCom has also represented PACEID on various forums to attack buyers and investors in the export sector.

ii. The Secretariat

During its second year of operations, the PACEID Secretariat was aligned to focus and prioritise interventions that address the four strategic pillars; technical roles were defined; and the process for recruitment and placement of additional technical staff is underway. The Secretariat departments are categorized along these four strategic pillars:

  • Markets
  • Standards
  • Infrastructure
  • Finance
Complemented by the Communications, Accounts and Administration departments.

iii. Technical Working Committees (TWCs)

These sector-driven groups comprise established players in the supply chain that ensure the delivery of export orders. PACEID recognises that exports are delivered by efficient supply chain players. Therefore, this calls for continuous engagements of the supply chain players in order to promptly respond to the orders and buyers. PACEID working trade representatives continue to attract buyers. The sector groups provide information and work together to supply orders and address buyers’ needs. The sector groups include the key 13 sectors to drive exports.
